The 9th Annual New Mexico Jszz Festival continues its tradition of presenting free concerts in Albuquerque's Old Town plaza, in partnership with the City of Albuquerque Cultural Services Department. One of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole and Zydeco (Louisiana French) music over the last decade, four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist & songwriter, Cedric Watson plays everything from forgotten Creole melodies and obscure Dennis McGee reels to more modern Cajun and Zydeco songs, as well as bluegrass fiddle and old string band tunes. Joining him is Desiree Champagne, frottoir, triangle; Kyle Gambino, saxophone; Ian Guidroz, bass; and Aaron Boudreaux, drums.
Opening the day at the Gazebo will be an Albuquerque favorite, Wagogo, which features a unique rhythmic cocktail of Chicano influences, Northern Mexico folk songs, calypso island grooves, and the spirit music of Zimbabwe.
