Hot on the release of her new CD, My Cup Of Tea, actress/musician/educator Heidi Swedberg returns to Outpost for a Family Concert. Swedberg loves to share the joy of music with people of all ages. She and her partner, Daniel Ward, believe in “the incredible power that making music (not just being a passive consumer) can bring to all people.” As Heidi says, “We all have a song in our soul to share.” After studying and working in theater, TV and film (her film credits include Seinfeld, Galaxy Quest, Kindergarten Cop), she picked up the ukulele while playing a singer-songwriter for a network TV pilot. Proving that life imitates art, she is now a singer-songwriter-teacher full time. Since the release of her first CD in 2010, Heidi Swedberg and the Sukey Jump Band have toured the nation, hosting sing-alongs at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, Austin City Limits, Kansas City Jiggle Jam and the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. They wowed the industry-only audience at Kindiefest in 2011. Last fall, Swedberg and Daniel Ward traveled to China to perform on behalf of Ohana Ukulele Company, also inspired by teaching ukulele to kids at an orphanage in Haiti. Heidi says of her shows, “Entertainment takes a back seat to fun. What’s the difference? One is a product to be consumed and the other a production to participate in! Bring yourself, your little ones and your elders. We all can enjoy singing songs from around the world and moving together in an hour of the dazzling, unplugged song and dance we call life.” In addition to Swedberg and Ward, the Sukey Jump Band comprises Skümbaag/Vespus Marimba Band members John Bartlit, Kristen Loree, Hovey Dean Corbin, Alexis Corbin, Craig McClelland and Douglas Nottingham.
