On Saturday, March 2nd, the City of Albuquerque and The Albuquerque Astronomical Society will co-host a star party at the Open Space Visitor Center from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The event will begin with a welcome followed by a lecture at 7:00pm by Dr. Barry Spletzer on the basics of amateur astronomy. Dr. Spletzer will give a second talk at 8:00pm on the comets in general and on the two appearing in 2013: PANSTARRS in March and ISON in November. Indoor demonstrations will take place during the star party, presented by TAAS volunteers. Observing will be continually ongoing on the patio with a variety of telescopes and featuring a laser constellation tour by Kevin McKeown.
