Tin Hat

Forging a new acoustic sound that defies categorization while striking universal chords, Tin Hat makes freewheeling chamber music for the 21st century. Formed in 1997 in San Francisco, they have recorded six CDs and have been hailed by The New York Press for “interweaving Old World Europe with post-modern America, south-of-the-border sensuality with concert-hall propriety, and odd-metered syncopation with deeply soulful grooves.” Their latest CD, The Rain is a Handsome Animal, features vocals by Carla Kihlstedt on songs using the poetry of e.e. cummings. Tin Hat is Carla Kihlstedt, violin and vocals; Mark Orton, guitar; Ben Goldberg, clarinet; and Rob Reich, accordion & piano.
