Bennet, Udall Support Spending Freeze
But Colorado democratic Senator Michael Bennett thinks such a move is prudent.
"It's very hard to solve this issue when you're in the worst recession since the Great Depression," Bennet says. "But it's very important to solve this issue, and I think we should do it in a bi-partisan way."
Bennett says he's disappointed that the Senate rejected a bill to create a bi-partisan debt commission earlier this week. The freshman democrat has introduced a bill that would limit government growth and trim the deficit during the eventual economic recovery. But that bill has yet to get a hearing.

DENVER, CO
(KUNC) -
President Obama's call to freeze spending on everything but defense and education next year didn't sit well with every democrat. Some in the chamber during Wednesday's State of the Union expressed concerns about cutting spending for services, amid one of the worst recessions in history. But Colorado democratic Senator Michael Bennett thinks such a move is prudent.
