As drought has further stressed the West's water supplies, large pipeline projects are back on the table. In Colorado, there are two such proposals to pump water to the Front Range; one from as far away as southwest Wyoming. There are two other controversial projects in the region as well; one to pump groundwater in Nevada to feed Las Vegas, and another proposed pipeline between Lake Powell and St. George, Utah. In the latest in our occasional series of conversations with the writers at High Country News Editor Jonathan Thompson tells KUNC's Kirk Siegler these projects are back under consideration because reservoirs like Lake Powell along the Colorado River are lower than they've been in decades.
