TRINIDAD, CO
(KUNC) -
On April 20th, 1914, the Colorado National Guard opened fire on a colony of striking mine workers at Ludlow, Colorado. In what is now known as the Ludlow Massacre, more than a dozen people died and the colony was burned to the ground. For this month's installment of Colorado Places, KUNC's Deanna Garcia takes us to the site where it all happened, a memorial that sits less than a mile off of I-25, about 12 miles north of Trinidad .
