For his fourth solo album, Kurt Vile has opted for higher fidelity but continues to maintain a certain haze of melody surrounding his idiosyncratic vocal delivery. The dismissal of the lo-fi filter allows for the layered guitars and mellotron nuance to truly shimmer and creat a rich backgrop for Vile's burn-out wisdom with lyrical phrasing reminiscent of Lou Reed.
