Festivities begin at 5pm with a rally at Caras Park. The rally’s theme is Youth Voices; Speaking Up and Speaking Out. The rally will conclude with a lighted march for youth voices from Caras Park to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 202 Brooks Street.
The Community Celebration at St. Paul’s begins at 6pm and will include a keynote address titled “The Power of Visions” by Dr. Paul Gordon Lauren, Regents Professor for the University of Montana. The night will also include a remembrance of Nelson Mandela by Floyd Kumahlo, the presentation of awards for the MLK Youth Art and Essay Contest, and performances by Andre Floyd and The Lewis and Clark Peace Choir. The evening will close with a community meal in the basement of the church.
