New Federal Spending Could Boost Geothermal Energy
(2009-04-21)
A core sample shows the kind of fault that allows underground hot water to reach the surface. Dan Bammes (Sample courtesy of the University of Utah Energy & Geoscience Institute)
(kuer) - The riskiest part of geothermal energy development is proving that there's enough hot water underground to run a power plant. That's where researchers would like to see the new money made available from the federal government used as private industry scrambles to meet the demand for renewable energy. KUER's Dan Bammes has the story. © Copyright 2010, kuer
