Senate Considers Change in ID Law
(2004-01-23)
JEFFERSON CITY, MO
(KBIA) -
State senators listened to testimony this week from a Missouri Highway Patrol captain who says people need to show their whole face on their driver's licenses.
Lawmakers began considering a bill last session that would require all drivers to reveal their whole face on their IDs.
The current law allows members of certain religious groups to wear veils or other face coverings in their ID photo.
Objections have been raised to the bill, mainly along civil liberties lines. But one provision would allow people who object to showing their face in public to have their ID photo taken in a private room.
