France Adding Full Body Scanners
(2010-01-08)
(Associated Press) -
The French civil aviation authority says that body scanners will be used on an experimental basis at the country's busiest airport later this month on flights headed to the United States.

Jacques Le Guillou, deputy director of transportation at the General Direction for Civil Aviation, says the scanners will be used at Charles de Gaulle airport north of Paris.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy earlier this week had ordered a study of the possible use of scanners amid security concerns following the failed effort by a Nigerian man to blow up a plane on a jetliner bound for Detroit on Christmas.

Le Guillou spoke to The Associated Press on Friday.
