Western Soundscapes: Gunnison Island
(2009-04-29)
(kuer) - Most Utahns are familiar with the Great Salt Lake's southern geography. Places like Antelope Island and Saltair often come to mind. But few people ever visit the lake's northern arm. One island on this remote section of the lake is actually protected from visitors. Gunnison Island is a restricted wildlife sanctuary and is a key breeding ground for White Pelicans and California Gulls. Jeff Rice had the rare chance to visit the island, and he has this audio postcard as part of the Western Soundscapes series.

The Western Soundscapes radio series is funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and is produced in cooperation with the Western Soundscape Archive at the University of Utah's J. Willard Marriott Library.
