TRAVERSE CITY (Interlochen Public Radio) - Matthew Fletcher's new book tells the story of a boy named Niko, as he grows up in a fictional Northern Michigan Indian Tribe - the Lake Matchimanitou Band. The book reads like a novel - but it's written by a legal scholar. And its narratives are designed to highlight the struggles of modern Indians in American schools.
