Eight arrests reported at "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" protest
Protest organizer Amanda Harris says an openly gay woman was turned away by Navy recruiters, so she and seven others staged a sit-in at the Navy recruiting office in Conway. Harris says Conway police arrested all eight and planned to charge them with criminal trespassing.
The public information officer for the Conway Police Department has not been available for comment.
The protest was organized by the national group Soulforce, which is working to end the military's ban on gays in uniform.
