Ike forces postponement of Arkansas-Texas game
(2008-09-11)
(UALR Public Radio) - Hurricane Ike has pushed back the Arkansas-Texas football game to Sept. 27.

The hurricane is on a course for landfall in Texas this weekend, with an expected strike between Houston and Corpus Christi. The storm is then forecast to bend to the north toward Austin.

With Saturday's game postponed, Arkansas will have an open date before playing No. 11 Alabama on Sept. 20 at Razorback Stadium. But Arkansas will lose an open date that was to have come before its Oct. 4 game with Nov. 4 Florida, also at Fayetteville.

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said the university believes the best thing to do is postpone the game, which had been set for Saturday in Austin.
