Beebe nominates assistant AG as justice
(2008-09-02)
(UALR Public Radio) - Gov. Mike Beebe has named a veteran lawyer from the attorney general's office to fill a seat on the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Beebe on Tuesday named Elana Wills to fill the remainder of the term of Associate Justice Tom Glaze, who has announced his retirement.

Willis has worked in the attorney general's office for 20 years, including four years when Beebe was state attorney general. Willis was head of the legal opinions office.

The 70-year-old Glaze announced last month he would step down after 22 years on the Supreme Court.

Willis will serve through 2010, when Glaze's term expires.
