Police seek man who shot LR McDonald's worker
(2008-08-27)
(UALR Public Radio) - Police are looking for a man who reportedly assaulted the mother of his children in a parking lot, then shot a McDonald's employee who attempted to break up the fight.

Police say 22-year-old Nigel Haskell was shot in the upper torso when he tried to help out a woman who was being attacked by 27-year-old Perry Kennon of Conway.

Haskell "was trying to be a Good Samaritan and coming to the aid of a young lady," said Little Rock police Lt. Terry Hastings.

Police say Jessica Canady was eating in the McDonald's when Kennon arrived in a blue Nissan Pathfinder.

"She came out and they got into it, and he hit her," Hastings said. "The employee came outside and intervened."

Police say Kennon fled after shooting Haskell with a small-caliber handgun. Haskell was taken to Baptist Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police have issued a first-degree assault warrant for Kennon.
