Local bicycle race raises money for wounded veterans (UALR Public Radio) - The Jacksonville community in central Arkansas is trying to help heal the wounds of war by supporting an annual athletic event. Over the weekend, the Jacksonville Museum of Military History sponsored The Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride, which tries to encourage veterans to heal their physical and mental wounds by returning to an active lifestyle.

The sporting event included a 27 mile bicycle ride and a four mile walk. Proceeds from the Soldier Ride support the Wounded Warrior Project's programs and services,which include distributing care pakages, helping veterans build a career in the civilian workforce, and getting disabled service men and women the adaptive equipment they need to be active in sports.
