Little Rock directors look at spending cuts
(2009-11-23)
(UALR Public Radio) - City directors in Little Rock are considering layoffs and cutting some of the nearly $9.8 million the city spends on outside agencies.

The city is expecting a $6.7 million drop in revenue and directors are to begin discussing spending levels when they meet Tuesday.

The city budgeted the nearly $9.8 million in 2009 to 13 different agencies that include the Pulaski County jail, Central Arkansas Transit Authority, the Arkansas Arts Center and the Chamber of Commerce.

Directors say they don't anticipate cutting an agency's entire funding - there just might be less support next year. City Manager Bruce Moore said he won't recommend any cuts in jail funding.
