Vandy Nash named Ark teacher of year
A fourth-grade teacher at Indian Hills Elementary is the Arkansas teacher of the year.
Vandy Nash was named Friday evening in a ceremony at the Governor's Mansion.
Nash receives $15,000, a nomination for the national teacher of the year award, and she'll spend one year as a mentor to other Arkansas teachers.
Indian Hills principal Cheryll Smith says Nash bases her lesson plans on what she knows about her students. Smith says Nash reaches students' minds through their hearts.
