Med students weigh in on the health care debate
(UALR Public Radio) -
The current health care debate has brought out strong opinions from many stakeholders, from patients to insurance companies. We wanted to hear from those who are pinning their futures on the medical field. FM 89's Nathan Vandiver sat down with four students at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After all, the industry they enter may be quite different from the one they sought out.
One student worries about compensation for doctors, while another says that he would work as a government employee. One just doesn't want the government interfering in her decisions about treatment, while another wishes for a single-payer program.
Among these students there is a diversity of opinion but the one thing they agree on is the way insurance works just isn't efficient enough.
