Rains bring flooding to parts of Ark.
(2009-10-13)
(UALR Public Radio) - Persistent rain has brought flooding to parts of southwest Arkansas as the state endures another day of drenching precipitation.

Authorities said Tuesday there was flooding in Texarkana, where some homes had water. Some streets and underpasses were also flooded.

The National Weather Service reported flooding on Arkansas Highways 167 and 278 in Hampton in Calhoun County.

In Little Rock, water pooled in places on Interstate 630. Flash flood warnings or watches were in effect for south and central Arkansas.

The forecast calls for rain to continue until midnight, after which the state will have occasional thunderstorms. The weather service says as much as six inches of rain could fall in some parts of south Arkansas.
