Overall cancer deaths are down - mostly due to a decrease in smoking - but many forms of cancer are on the rise, particularly among children. University of Pittsburgh epidemiologist Devra Davis says we could be doing a lot better in this war; she says as many as 10 million cancer deaths could have been avoided over the last decade if we'd paid more attention to a mountain of evidence that suggests most cancer is caused by pollution and contaminants. She's laid out her thoughts in a new book called The Secret History of the War on Cancer.
