Arkansans Respond to newly enacted LGBT Federal Hate Crimes Law

New federal legislation to protect victims of violent crime based on gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation was signed into law by President Barrak Obama October 28th.
The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act broadens protection currently provided to victims of violent crime based on race, color, religion or national origin.
According to the latest U.S. Census, an estimated 65 thousand lesbian, gay, and bisexual people live in Arkansas.
