Because credit scores are an important factor when bankers decide whether to lend to small business owners, Accion Texas Inc., El Paso Affordable Housing Credit Union Service Organization and the Project VIDA will co-host a workshop on credit repair and management to help entrepreneurs gain the skills they need to manage their credit or repair their credit.
WHO: Keynote speaker, Rai Sarabia, is a community liaison with the El Paso Affordable Housing Credit Union Service Organization. Sarabia – a licensed residential mortgage loan processor – has taught credit and financial management classes in the El Paso community for more than 17 years.
Accion Texas Inc. is a nonprofit small business lender – the nation’s largest nonprofit microlender – and works in conjunction with local partners to provide workshops and seminars so that small business owners can gain the information and skills they need to start or grow their businesses.

The mission is to empower members of the financially underserved community with the ability to develop family wealth and financial stability.
Project VIDA is a project of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and provides multiple services to El Paso neighborhoods, including low cost health care, early education and after school programs, assistance to microbusiness owners, and low income housing.
WHAT: Credit repair and management workshop and networking opportunity. Topics include: • Different types of credit. • How to read and understand your credit report. • How to establish and manage credit. • How to improve your credit score. • How to repair your credit.
WHY: Because lenders use credit reports and credit scores to determine whether to lend money to small business owners, potential home buyers, car shoppers and others seeking loans and credit, it is important for people to maintain good credit scores and to track their credit reports, as well to build or repair their credit scores if the score is insufficient.
