The MVM Farm is located in Mesilla, New Mexico and features 2 1/2 acres of seasonal crops that are grown using organic standards. MVM Farm is a small diverse farm dedicated to educating and training community members about growing food and local food systems. We are committed to providing community members access to a variety of fresh, nutritious locally grown vegetables. This year, MVM Farm has been growing in every way possible. We arenít just growing kale, carrots and beets; we are growing producers and the MVM Farm itself too! MVM Farm has been expanding the number of high school and college interns we are able to host, the types and quantities of produce, the growing strategies that are used on the farm, our composting operation and the number of community members we reach. During the past six months MVM Farm staff has provided over 1,193 hours of instruction and hands-on experiential learning time to high school students, college interns and community members.
On May 10, MVM Farm will hold a 5k run (walkers welcome!) to provide community members an opportunity to show support for MVM Farm (their community farm) and their local food system. The event details are as follows:
Registration and Line-up will begin at 7:00 a.m.. Race will start at 8:00 a.m., and we anticipate all runners will clear from the course no later than 9:30 a.m.
Run will begin at 2653 Snow Road and go North to Calle de Norte, the run will then head East to Avenida de Mesilla and continue South down Avenida de Mesilla until Calle de Sur and then South to the MVM Farm on the corner of Calle de Sur and Snow Road
