One of the most powerful voices in Chicana literature, Ana Castillo, will debut her latest novel, ‘Give It To Me’ in El Paso, Texas to kick-off the Wise Latina International Summer Summit, “Tapestry of Evolution: Strength, Power & Influence” on June 6th at 6pm at the historic Little Temple. Ana Castillo’s novel, ‘Give It To Me’ published by Feminist Press, features a recently divorced 43-year-old Latina, Palma, who stumbles her way to spiritual self-rescue through sexual adventures and small-time hustles. ‘Give it to Me’ is the ‘Sex in the City’ for a Chicana babe who’s looking for love in all the wrong places. Castillo credits the powerful storytelling tradition of her Mexican heritage as the foundation and inspiration for her work. Castillo’s first widely-read novel, ‘So Far From God’, marked her as one of the country’s most gifted and engaging Latina writers. As a scholar, her publication of “Massacre of the Dreamers: Essays on Xicanisma” ignited academia and defined Chicana Feminism. Castillo’s publications include the short story collection ‘Loverboys’, and the novel ‘Peel My Love Like an Onion.’ Her critically acclaimed novel, ‘The Guardians’, follows the lives of Mexican immigrants who illegally cross the border into the United States and centers on a family devastated by deaths and disappearances.
