Last Thursdays with the Downtown Arts District will include Halloween and Día de los Muertos festivities. Pumpkin Decorating Contest in Union Plaza Park – open to the public, first come - first serve with 25 pumpkins and limited carving kits available for free or BYO pumpkin and carving/decorating tools (strongly encouraged). Pumpkin Decorating starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. Judging will be done by the Maximo Art Society with winners announced and prize give away at 8:15 p.m. Prizes and raffle include generous gift cards from Tabla, The Garden, Café Central, Hello Day Café, OLO Gallery Gift Shop, O.M., Manchot, Nahda, and Ivy salon. DJ Fresco will perform and Maximo Art Society will have live art making in the park. Made possible by generous support from Sotoa. Piñata in Union Plaza provided by Tabla – kids take their swing at the piñata at 8:30 p.m. Costume Contest at the Mix at 7 p.m. - hosted by O.M., Manchot, Nahda, Ivy, and Art Avenue – prizes include an iPod Shuffle and generous gift cards to local restaurants and retail hosts. Camino Real – Solo exhibition by Kristen Brice curated by Laura Turon Rock House – live music performance and group art show The Grocery Gallery – belly and fire dancers with tarot card readings and an art exhibition Purple Pop Up Gallery – Nuevo Juarez exhibition and live poetry reading by VIVA FLORES 2nd Floor Contemporary Arts Center – Chinese Dia de los Muertos alter exhibition and children’s art activities with Trick or Treating Exploreum – children’s holiday and art activities Café Central joins Last Thursdays and will offer a wine selection special Visit El Paso in Union Plaza will host Trick or Treating, an Amigo Man Coloring Contest, and an exhibition by John Wilkins and Border Senses - 400 W. San Antonio (Union Plaza Transit Terminal on the corner of San Antonio and Durango) Trick or Treat candy provided by the Station Urban Offices
Last Thursdays with the Downtown Arts District is a monthly art walk organized by the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. Last Thursdays showcases art galleries, Pop-Up art installations, live artist performances, live-music, and free admission to special exhibitions at both the El Paso Museum of Art and the El Paso Museum of History. Last Thursdays is a collaborative effort between the Downtown Arts District and the local arts community to showcase the contemporary art scene in downtown El Paso, in partnership with our downtown business and restaurant owners. Last Thursdays is free and open to the community.
