The Mimbres Region Arts Council is pleased to bring the "Rhythm of the Dance" to the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre in Silver City for a two-hour dance and music extravaganza. The two-hour dance-and-music spectacular produced in Ireland features a live band, three tenors and 22 dancers in authentic costumes tracing the history of the Celts. The show has been performed in 51 countries across four continents. Director/Producer Kieran Cavanagh, choreographer Doireann Carney and composer Carl Hession continually tweak and intensify the beats and passion at the heart of the Rhythm of the Dance spectacular to keep the show fresh and exciting. Cavanagh’s roster of concert successes include sell out tours with Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Van Morrison, Kris Kristofferson, to name a few. Hession is today regarded as one of traditional Irish music's finest accompanist, composers and arrangers. Carney was a dancer in the phenominal “Riverdance - The Show”. She also did an extensive tour of Australia with Lord of the Dance’s Michael Donnellan. Rhythm of the Dance will bring you and your family on an epic journey through the ages, from ancient mythology to the travels of the Irish emigrants, from the rolling hills and stonewalls of Connemara all the way to the modern skyscrapers of New York, with some surprises along the way. DIRECTIONS TO THE THEATER: Entering the City of Silver City on Highway 9() from Lordsburg turn left on College Street near the center of town. On 180 Highway, enter the town of Silver City to the center of town. At Pope Street ( from Cliff a right turn) (from Deming straight head) follow Pope to the end (approx. five blocks). Go West on College, a right turn, continue (approx. eleven blocks) to E Street, turn right. The street circles up the hill. The Fine Arts Center Theater is left on top of the hill. The Load-in Doors are located right of front of the Theater at the rear of the house. |
