Weathering Gustav: Colorado Delegates React
(ksut) - Many of Colorado's 46 delegates to the Republican National Convention were disappointed at the scaled back RNC schedule due to Hurricane Gustav.

"It makes me sad that we're being deprived of a lot of programs, a lot of speakers that were supposed to be here. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a real tragedy like Katrina. That's the reason they're playing it cool this time, they don't want to catch a lot of flack from this storm like they did in Katrina," said Mojie Adler, a delegate from southwest Colorado.

Adler now supports McCain, although she initially preferred Mitt Romney. She's still not sure about McCain's VP pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

The Colorado delegates say they're still hoping to attend some of the scheduled parties this week, such as a reception with Arizona delegates and a top surrogate of Senator McCain.

Delegate Eric Johnson owns a recording studio in Fort Collins and says you just have to be flexible.

"We're definitely a little bit on standby, waiting to see how things change, kind of minute by minute. We're watching the updates, we're going to keep it low key and just take care of business," Johnson said.

No matter what happens with the hurricane, Republican delegates must formally nominate Senator McCain and Governor Palin.
