Obama Accepts Presidential Nomination
(2008-08-29)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: As the city streets of Denver quiet down after a long week today, the buzz of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama's historic speech still resonates throughout the country and throughout the world.

KSUT's Sarah Baumgartner was there to catch it.

(Cheers)

SARAH: For the first time in our nations history, an African American accepted the nomination to be our country's Democratic Presidential Candidate.
An adoring crowd of roughly 84,000 people gathered at Invesco Field to witness this momentous occasion, as Presidential Candidate Barack Obama talked about the need for change and the broken politics in Washington.
Obama's acceptance comes 45 years to the day of Dr. Martin Luther King Jrs I have a dream speech.
The day-long event featured numerous guest speakers and entertainment by Stevie Wonder, Will I am, Sheryl Crowe, Yonder Mountain String Band and others.
As he spoke the words of promise and vowed to change the country, I stood next to the delegations of Alabama, Wisconsin and Nebraska there wasn't a dry eye to be seen.

On September 1st the Grand Old Party will hold their convention in St. Paul Minnesota.

From KSUT, Four Corners Public Radio, I'm Sarah Baumgartner.
