(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Art pieces vying for placement in Durango's new library go public tonight. KSUT's Victor Locke reports. VICTOR: Bids were solicited from artists for a storytellers chair for the children's area, and a public art piece for the stairwell at the new library. The Durango Public Art Commission has set aside 15 thousand dollars for the story tellers chair. 20-thousand dollars has been earmarked for the stairwell piece. Proposals were received from 31 artists from which 6 finalists have been selected, including several from Durango, two from Arizona and one from Farmington. Each proposal will be presented during an open house from 5-7 this evening at the Rec Center. You'll be able to comment and rate each piece. Final selections could come as soon as tomorrow, with each piece expected to be completed for the Library's grand opening December first. From KSUT I'm Victor Locke.
