Ft. Lewis Burn Smokes up Four Corners Skies
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Four Corners skies are smoky again as another major prescribed burn, scheduled originally for last month, got underway Today/Monday.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: Federal and local fire agencies, under the direction of the BLM Farmington/Taos District Fire Management Group, hope to burn 18-hundred acres this week and next, at the CSU San Juan Basin Research Center, or Old Fort Lewis.
The burn site is South of Hesperus on highway 140, about 15 miles North of the Colorado/New Mexico State line.
The Colorado Land Board which owns the site, contracted for the burn to eliminate pine needles and other debris, as well as fire prone vegetation in Ponderosa Pine forest.
Plans call for burning 250 acres per day over the next week, if conditions are favorable.
Otherwise, the burn could be stretched out into the summer.
Smoke from the burn will be visible in the Four Corner's area and could settle overnight into lowlying areas.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
