Solar Heating of Rec Center Pools Could Move Forward
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Solar heating of Durango's Rec Center pools could take a step forward this week.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: City Councilors will be asked tomorrow to okay a contract for 225-thousand dollars with Novan Solar, to install a solar hot water system to heat the center's pools.
That's well below the 350-thousand dollar estimate for the project given last year.
But the payback time for the system has also changed, from 5 years to 15 years.
The increased payback time is the result of a more detailed analysis of the city pools, their size, temperature and heat demand.
Novan installed a similar system in 2002 at the North Boulder Recreation Center.
Bill Boys, facilities manager for the Boulder Center says the system has done a good job heating the pools.
And he says with increased gas costs, they expect the initial payback estimate of 17-18 years to drop to about 15 years.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
