Mexican Consul Visits Durango
(2008-04-23)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Durango played host Tuesday to the Consul General of Mexico from Denver.
His stop here was part of a statewide tour to promote closer ties between the state our neighboring country to the south.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: Eduardo Arnal spoke like an ambassador for nearly an hour, during an afternoon reception hosted by city and county officials.
He noted the Mexican Consulate in Denver is the largest of all Consulates in this state.
He says that's because there are 750-thousand Mexicans living in Colorado, and this state and his country have a lot in common and should strengthen their ties.
Arnal says he hopes to visit all 64 Colorado County's promoting increased tourism, trade and investment.
ARNAL: I JUST RECEIVE ALMOST EVERY WEEK, AMERICANS THAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN MEXICO, OR I RECEIVE REQUESTS FROM MEXICANS THAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN INVESTMENT HERE IN COLORADO.
Arnal also spent time meeting with local law enforcement officials talking about cracking down on drugs and other crossborder crime.
He says Mexican president Felipe Calderon has committed to cracking down on drug cartels in his country.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
