Colorado Lawmaker Bound for Afghanistan
(2008-01-17)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: A Colorado Lawmaker leaves for a visit to Afghanistan tomorrow (Friday).
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: Colorado 2nd District Democrat Congressman Mark Udall says we need to finish the war we started in Afghanistan seven years ago.
And he wants to see first hand how that war is going.
That's one of the reasons he's visiting Afghanistan.
UDALL: WE HAVE YET TO CAPTURE OR KILL OSAMA BIN LADEN AND HIS CHIEF LIEUTENANTS. WE HAVE TO FINISH THAT JOB AND IN THE PROCESS WE HAVE TO ALSO FINISH THE JOB AND WIN THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN. THE THREAT TO THE WORLD THAT IT REPRESENTED ON 9-11 STILL EXISTS.
Udall, a member of the House Armed Services Committee says what he calls "the war of choice" in Iraq has allowed what he says is the "war of necessity" in Afghanistan to languish.
Udall will return from Afghanistan Tuesday.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
