LPEA Hopes to have 95% of Customers Online Tonight
(2008-01-08)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Area power company officials say they hope to have electricity restored to almost all customers by late tonight.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: LaPlata Electric Association officials say they should have 95-percent of their customers back on line by midnight tonight.
As of midday today, about 500 customers from the 501/240 intersection to Lemon Dam remain powerless as do about 100 customers in the area East of Bayfield to Yellow Jacket.
About 200 customers along County Road 502 near Bayfield, and 200 in the Forest Lakes area should have power by midday tomorrow.
The largest outage area continues to be around Vallecito where about 1-thousand customers may be without power until Thursday.
There are still numerous scattered outage areas as well, including the Aspen Springs area in Archuleta County, and Rafter J.
LPEA has 80 line personnel and a 10 member tree crew now working to repair damage caused by heavy wet snows that started Friday, snapping power lines, poles and dropping tree branches across power lines.
It's estimated nearly 5-thousand LPEA customers, mostly in rural areas of LaPlata and Archuleta Counties were at one time without electricity.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
