Million$$$ On The Line For the 4 Corners in Fed Budget Deliberations
(2007-12-19)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Millions of dollars for numerous projects in the Four Corners are included in budget bills moving through the house and senate this week.
Some of the projects were included in an earlier budget bill approved by congress but vetoed by the president, threatening the funding.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: More than 60-million dollars for the Animas LaPlata Project during the next fiscal year, is the largest amount for the Four Corners included in the so called Omnibus Funding Bill.
The House and Senate have approved their own versions of the spending plan.
Also included is 287-thousand dollars for the Mercy Foundation, to help construct and equip a new community health clinic operated by Mercy in the wake of Valley Wide's departure.
1-million dollars to improve highway 491 in the Four Corners.
1.5-million for repairs to the water system on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation.
Also being considered on the hill is the Foreign Operations Appropriations and Consolidated Appropriations bill, which includes 400-thousand dollars toward the 7-million dollar Bayfield Sewer Treatment Facility upgrade, and 245-thousand dollars for improvements at the Chimney Rock Archeological Area.
None of the funding is certain until the bills are signed by the president.
He should receive them by week's end.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
