(ksut) - Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort will begin its 2007-08 season Sunday.
Twenty inches of snow fell on the resort overnight Friday into Saturday morning. Two chairs, 1 & 2 and 8 trails will be open. Lift tickets will be $15 with all proceeds of Benefit Day going to Durango Nature Studies and Durango Winter Sports Foundation.
The forecast calls for several more inches of snow at Purgatory, through today and tonight.

Silverton Mountain also reported 48-inches of snow fell in an 18 hour period Friday to Saturday at mid mountain. Silverton had planned to open today, but too much snow, has postponed the opening until Sunday. The snow at Silverton this weekend is the second largest 24 hour total in the ski areas history, eclipsed only by 117" that fell in a storm in 2005.
