Durango Trooper/School Board Hopeful Killed In Motorcycle/Deer Collision
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: A Colorado State Trooper assigned to the Durango post, and candidate for the Durango School board died Sunday.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: 49-year old Colorado State Patrol Trooper Mark Dold of Durango died Sunday morning when his motorcycle collided with a deer.
A release from the State Patrol says Dold, wearing a helmet, was on highway 550, one mile north of Ridgway, when a deer herd crossed the road.
He collided with one of the animals and then ran off the road and down an embankment.
Dold died when he was thrown from the motorcycle.
The crash occured just before 10:30 yesterday morning.
In addition to often writing columns on police and safety issues for the Durango Herald, Dold was also seeking an open seat on the Durango 9R school board in a race with former welding instructor Padraig Lynch.
Dold is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
