Mercy Ranks High In 9 Categories
(2007-07-23)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Durango's Mercy Regional Medical Center is boasting some high scores in care for Heart Attacks, Heart Failure and Pneumonia.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

VICTOR: Mercy ranks among the top ten percent of hopsitals in the country, in nine of 22 process of care measures which show how often a hospital provides care that is recommended for patents.
According to a news release from the hospital, Mercy earned high ratings in four heart attack indicators, three pneumonia indicators and one each in heart failure and surgery.
The ratings are tracked by the Hospital Quality Alliance which is a public-private partnership of the American Hospital Association, Federation of American Hospitals and the Association of American Medical Colleges.
The ratings are designed to make it easier for consumers to make health care decisions, in part through a special website, hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
At the site you can view care measures for hospitals and make side by side comparisons of two or more hospitals.
Data used in the latest ratings was gathered between October 2005 and September 2006 and includes patients both with and without medicare coverage.
