Rattlesnake Mop Up Underway, More Fires
(2007-07-07)
(ksut) - About two dozen firefighters are still mopping up hot spots today on a blaze west of Navajo Lake, in San Juan County New Mexico.
The Rattlesnake Fire has charred about 300 acres.
But state Forestry Division spokesman Dan Ware says it's nearly completely contained.
A few crews will remain on mop-up over the weekend.
The fire had shut down a dozen natural gas wells but Ware says they've been cleared to resume operations.
The fire broke out Monday afternoon.
Fire investigators say it was human caused, but details have not been released.
Meanwhile, storms over the Four Corners started approximatly two dozen other mostly small blazes Friday.
Dry conditions remain, as do Stage One fire restrictions across most of Southwest Colorado.
