Local Education Groups Land $1M
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Two Durango organizations have landed nearly 1-million dollars in state grants.
KSUT'S Victor Locke has more.

VICTOR: The City of Durango has been awarded 975-thousand dollars in two Community Development Block Grants, from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.
One grant, totalling 525-thousand dollars will be used by a consortium of local education groups to buy the old Federal Building at 701 Camino Del Rio.
The groups plan to develop the building into an education center, which will be named The Commons.
The Durango Early Learning Center is also receiving a 450-thousand dollar grant to apply toward purchasing the East 3rd Avenue building it's leased for 26-years for its pre school.
Both groups are still in the process of raising additional funds needed to finalize the purchases.
For KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
