Oil and Gas Commission Bill Moves Forward
(2007-04-17)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: A Senate committee is unanimously backing a proposal to change the makeup of the state's oil and gas commission, which some say is too industry friendly.
KSUT's Victor Locke has more.

VICTOR: More people from outside the oil and gas business, including the state's top health and natural resources officials, would help regulate the industry under the proposal.
The bill increases membership from 7 to 9, including an environmental and wildlife expert and a landowner.
The bill's senate sponsor is Jim Isgar of Hesperus.
ISGAR: WE WANT THE INDUSTRY TO DO A GOOD JOB AND BE RESPONSIVE AND I THINK THIS WILL HELP THAT HAPPEN. WE HAVE SOME VERY GOOD OPERATORS IN COLORADO, WE HAVE SOME OPERATORS WHO, AT TIMES, AREN'T AS GOOD AS THEY COULD BE.
The industry's main lobby group, the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, has dropped opposition to the bill, but doesn't back it either.
It now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration.
From KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
