Hillcrest To Convert To Condos
(2007-03-19)
(ksut) -
HOST LEAD: The proposed conversion of 130 units at the Hillcrest Apartments Phase 1, could bring a major infusion of affordable housing in Durango.
KSUT's Vcitor Locke reports.

VICTOR: The conversion of 130 apartments will make one, two and three bedroom condo's available to private buyers.
According to a news release the condos will be offered at prices ranging from 130 to 230-thousand dollars.
They will include washers, dryers, dishwashers, one reserved parking space and more.
The conversion process will not involve any additional construction.
Units will receive new carpet, tile and paint, and be released for sale in three phases with the first phase expected to be available once the planning and approval process is completed.
The project goes before the City Planning Commission tonight, and then to Durango City Council for final approval.
Fort Lewis College Vice President for Finance and Administration, Steven Schwartz, is quoted in the release saying the conversion is supported by the school, which is adjacent to the complex.
Schwartz says it will give faculty, staff and the community an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of home ownership.
I'm Victor Locke, for KSUT.
