Durango School Chief: Not Quitting
(2007-03-08)
(ksut) - HOST LEAD: Durango District 9R school superintendent Mary Barter says she's not planning to resign.
KSUT's Victor Locke reports.

BARTER: I'M THE SUPERINTENDENT OF DURANGO SCHOOL DISTRICT 9R UNTIL MY CONTRACT ENDS JUNE 30TH 'O8 AND I'M VERY PROUD TO BE THAT.
Barter's comment comes one day after school board President Mike Matheson's resignation.
Matheson's charged board member Jeff Schell told him 5 board members met illegally and agreed to terminate Barter's contract.
Schell has denied the charge, but that's all he'll say.
Barter admits all is not well.
BARTER: THE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND THE SUPERINTENDENTS ROLE ARE CERTAINLY IN A STATE OF TURMOIL.
Board members will discuss her status with her in executive session Monday, after which they could take action.
They're also expected to vote to accept Matheson's resignation.
For KSUT, I'm Victor Locke.
