Blue Star Contemporary welcomes college age students for a curatorial workshop with Spinning Yarns Curator Libby Rowe and Photo Hive Director Sarah Sudhoff. This workshop is for college studio art and art history students and professors are welcome to reserve spaces for a class. The workshop will consist of a lecture component and a process component, developing students abilities to make connections between different works by different artists as well as within their own body of work. They will discuss and practice how to edit a group of works, communicate a cohesive message to the viewer, and how to translate this into written form by drafting a curatorial/artist statement. The workshop is open to students working in all mediums and focuses on the above described, not a particular material. Spinning Yarns is on view in the Main and Middle Gallery, June 4th - August 3rd. Participants must register to reserve their spot and must show a current student ID. Students are welcome to bring a lunch. A food truck will be on site with lunch for purchase as well.
