Nocturnal Bloom is a yearly event held on Park Central Square that provides area alternative artists with community-accessible performance and exhibition platforms. This year, thanks to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ local crowdfunding platform, Cause Momentum, the community event will be community funded. Nocturnal Bloom’s premiere in 2013 was well-received by the community and attended by an estimated 600 people. The artist- and volunteer-driven event aims to raise awareness of alternative art forms present in Springfield and facilitate networking and collaboration among those artists. Donations to support local alternative arts will be accepted through Thursday, September 25 at www.causemomentum.org/projects/nocturnal-bloom. All donations go directly to event costs and are tax-deductible. The second annual Nocturnal Bloom will be held at Park Central Square on Friday, September 5 from 7:00pm-11:00pm. Event attendees will discover a unique, exciting, and family-friendly environment featuring six DJs, live art demonstrations, a "Before I Die..." installation, sound and light design, set design, and several performance groups including dancers, hula hoopers, and fire poi spinners. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and interact with the different elements of the event. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged through causemomentum.org.
