State Epidemiologist recommends high risk people get early flu shots
(2005-10-03)
(Associated Press) -

State and national officials expect to have enough flu vaccines this year.

But State Epidemiologist Doctor Cort Lohff is recommending that the most vulnerable Vermonters get their vaccines as soon as they become available in the next few weeks.

Those at high risk of complications from the flu are the elderly, very young, and people with chronic conditions. Health care providers also are encouraged to get shots soon. And Lohff is urging people at low risk of complications from the flu to wait until after October 24th to get their shots.

Last year there was shortage of flu vaccine after a bacterial contamination problem forced a main supplier to the United States to pull its product from the market.
